End constipation on the GAPS Diet with these tips!

  • Animal fats and other fats like coconut oil, olive oil (around 4 tablespoons with each meal)
  • Apple cider vinegar in a cup if water (1 tablespoon of ACV in 250 ml water, sip throughout the day or drink a whole glass 15 min before the meal) 
  • Avocado* 
  • Beet kvass (1 glass on an empty stomach) 
  • Beetroots (cooked until very soft)* 
  • Berries (start a day with a bowl of berries)*
  • Carrot juice 
  • Chia seeds oil 
  • Coconut oil 
  • Dairy (24h fermented at home only) . Increase sour cream, ghee, butter (up to 2 cups a day). Reduce kefir, whey, yogurt, and cheese. Or if it doesn’t work try to remove dairy completely
  • Fermented cod liver oil (taken internally as well as applied to the skin) 
  • Flax oil (Full GAPS only) 
  • Fruits. Increase cooked fruits (apples, plums, prunes – ½-1 cup first thing in the morning)* 
  • GAPS shakes and fresh juices 
  • Kale chips (eat before bed) – dehydrate below 120 degrees with olive oil, salt, nutritional yeast* 
  • Kombucha 
  • Kiwi (start a day with one whole kiwi)*
  • Meats (Increase gelatinous meats. Meats around bones, joints, feet, tongue, bone marrow. Soft tissues including the skin and connective tissue – blend into a pate and add to meatloaf or blend into stock. Reduce muscle meats) 
  • Rosemary (eat raw with each meal)* 
  • Sauerkraut juice 
  • Sesame seeds oil 
  • Spirulina, blue-green algae, chlorella, dunaliella (only is the gut is healed and sealed, if you suffer from IBS, Crohn’s, UC that may aggravate your symptoms) 
  • Vegetables – Increase cooked and raw vegetables (may aggravate symptoms for those with digestive problems)* 
  • Vegetable medley (1 glass on an empty stomach) 
  • Vitamin C:
    • acerola cherry powder
    • camu camu
    • rosehip tea
    • sauerkraut juice* (*increasing sauerkraut juice may cause more constipation in some)
    • liver
  • Water (drink plenty of warm water), water + lemon, water + mineral salt, water +lemon+ghee/coconut oil (1st thing in the morning)
