Parasites have a bad reputation, but they are actually essential components of our healthy ecosystem. They help regulate populations and promote biodiversity, while also providing food sources for other microbes. They also protect us from more toxic substances such as heavy metals. It is only when our microbiome is unbalanced we experiencing parasite infestation symptoms.
Recognizing the symptoms of a parasitic infection is essential for optimizing your health, so it’s important to understand what signs you need to look out for.
SYMPTOMS
One of the most common signs of a parasite infection is unexpected weight loss or gain. Parasites tend to consume nutrients that your body needs to stay healthy, leading to malnourishment over time if left untreated. Unexplained changes in appetite are often associated with parasites, as they may alter your digestion and cravings. This could be lose of appetite and on the other hand crazy cravings, typically for carbs (sugar, processed foods, cakes etc).
Intestinal parasites can also cause some people to develop anaemia due to a reduction in iron absorption. There are also types of parasites which feeds on iron. Many people are prescribed iron supplements, which only adds to the problem.
Other symptoms include digestive issues like diarrhoea, constipation, abdominal pain, bloating, intestinal blockage, rectal itching, nausea or vomiting. These are caused by the presence of parasites in your intestines which may disrupt your digestion and cause abdominal pain or cramping. Skin rashes are another tell-tale sign of a parasite infestation; these lesions may be red and itchy, appearing in clusters on the skin depending on the type of parasite causing the infection.
Fatigue is another common symptom that is correlated with parasites – this feeling of exhaustion can happen due to various factors such as nutrient depletion and anaemia caused by parasite-related malnourishment. Parasites can also interfere with regular sleep patterns or lead to insomnia due to itching from skin irritation caused by lesions resulting from their presence in the body.
Bruxism, or teeth grinding, is often associated with parasites. As parasites consume essential nutrients from our bodies needed for proper functioning of the muscular system in our jaw line and face area we experience more strain on this area when we clench or grind our teeth causing teeth grinding (especially during the night)
The list of other symptoms goes on including: jaundice (yellowish skin), fever and chills, seizures, skin rashes/skin problems, prolonged coughing, congested chest, swelling of the lymph nodes, joint, muscle and tissue pain, abnormal heart rate, eye inflammation
But before you start killing parasites off with anti-parasite protocol make sure you include this foods in you diet first:
GARLIC
Eating garlic helps fight off parasites by boosting the immune system and attacking harmful bacteria. Garlic contains allicin, which is a powerful antioxidant with antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal properties. Allicin has been shown to kill various species of parasites, including roundworms and other common intestinal worms. It works by breaking down their cell walls and damaging the parasite’s outer layer. Additionally, garlic can also block parasites from attaching to human cells in order to survive and reproduce.
PUMPKIN SEEDS
Eating pumpkin seeds helps get rid of parasites because they contain cucurbitacin, a compound that has strong antiparasitic properties. This compound disrupts the life cycle of parasites by paralyzing their larvae and preventing them from growing or reproducing. In addition, pumpkin seeds are high in zinc, which can speed up recovery from parasitic infections and boost the immune system. Pumpkin seeds are also a great source of antioxidants, magnesium, iron, and protein which all help to support intestinal health.
24h FERMENTED DAIRY
Kefir contains “good” bacteria and yeast that are helpful for tackling parasites. The probiotic content of kefir helps to restore the balance of beneficial bacteria in the gut, which is important for fighting off harmful parasites. Kefir also contains compounds such as lactic acid, caprylic acid and enzymes which can help kill off any parasite populations in the intestines. As an added bonus, kefir is rich in B vitamins, minerals like calcium and magnesium, as well as other essential trace elements – all of which are essential nutrients for keeping your digestive health in check and helping you fight off parasitic infections.
SAUERKRAUT
Eating sauerkraut or drinking cabbage juice or fermented cabbage tonic helps killing parasites because it is a probiotic food that contains beneficial bacteria. These bacteria can help to naturally rid the body of parasites by reducing their numbers, increasing the body’s immune response to them, and helping to break down their toxins and waste products. In addition, sauerkraut also contains lactic acid, which is known for killing many types of parasite larvae and eggs. Eating sauerkraut can therefore reduce both the adult population of parasites as well as any newly hatched parasites in the digestive tract.
Bonus remedy to get rid of parasites: COFFEE ENEMAS
Coffee enemas are believed (I saw hundreds of them coming out) to help rid the body of parasites by stimulating the liver and gallbladder to increase bile flow. This, in turn, helps regulate digestion and detoxifies the body. Additionally, coffee enemas have an anti-parasitic effect because the caffeine has a toxic effect on some parasites while not affecting healthy cells.
If you followed the GAPS diet, successfully introduced the above foods and performed regular coffee enemas for at least a year and you still struggle with parasites, please reach out to learn more about more intense anti-parasitic protocols.
