The creation of the No Plant GAPS protocol stemmed from a desperate search for answers by a group of mothers whose children suffered from FPIES (Food Protein-Induced Enterocolitis Syndrome), an exceptionally rare condition. About a decade and a half ago, these mothers reached out to Dr. Natasha Campbell -McBride seeking assistance for their little ones battling this perplexing ailment.

FPIES manifests as severe vomiting and diarrhea in breastfed newborns, rendering them unable to tolerate even their mother’s milk. These infants often fail to thrive, facing physical and cognitive developmental delays. Medical tests reveal an allergy to virtually all forms of protein, leaving physicians with little choice but to switch to synthetic formulas, typically composed of soy and other processed ingredients broken down to single amino acids. Unfortunately, this path often leads to dismal outcomes, with many infants succumbing to severe disabilities or even death.

In their quest for alternatives, some parents turned to the GAPS diet, a regimen that aids gut healing. Yet, despite their efforts, they observed very little improvement. In result Dr Natasha Cambell-McBride, recognized the challenges of digesting plant matter and she introduced modifications to the GAPS diet, emphasizing the removal of fiber and thorough cooking of plant-based foods to enhance digestibility. However, even these adjustments failed to provide relief for FPIES infants.

The breakthrough came when Dr. Natasha recommended eliminating all plant matter from the diet. Instead, these babies began consuming meat stock, blended gelatinous meat parts, kefir, and egg yolks. While still reliant on formula, gradual improvements were noted—babies grew calmer, slept better, and began gaining weight. With careful monitoring and persistence, they successfully weaned off the formula, leading to the cessation of vomiting and diarrhea. These children thrived, defying the odds and exhibiting normal development both physically and mentally.

Over the years, the No Plant GAPS protocol has evolved, with patients navigating a delicate balance of reintroducing vegetables in minuscule amounts and monitoring for adverse reactions.

Despite the challenges, success stories abound, from children with Ulcerative Colitis/Crohn’s disease to individuals battling severe mental disorders. The resilience and adaptability of the protocol continue to be refined with each patient’s journey, offering hope and healing to those in need.

In essence, the No Plant GAPS protocol underscores two critical lessons gleaned from Dr. Natasha Cambell-McBride’s clinical experience:

  • firstly, humans can thrive without plant foods,
  • secondly, the degree of damage to the digestive system dictates the tolerance for plant-based diets.

As the journey of discovery continues, each patient’s story contributes to the ongoing refinement and understanding of this groundbreaking approach to health and wellness.

Personally, No Plant GAPS helped me to overcome a life-threatening stage of Crohn’s disease and get rid of over 200 hundred unwanted symptoms.

I see many people who “tried it all” with no improvements starting No Plant GAPS and regaining their health regularly.
